Robert Cogan now rests in Mount Auburn Cemetery on Crystal Avenue.
Monument Design
For those that knew Robert Cogan, there was no option to have a traditional memorial stone. Cogan's beloved "partner", as they referred to each other, Pozzi Escot, is still alive; but they were bound together for more than 60 years of their professional and personal lives; therefore they are honored together.
The monument design is a visual representations of both their sounds, musical and academic works. The center triangle image is a piece by Pozzi Escot, “Your Kindled Valore Bend”. The patterns on the rest of the stoneface are Cogan's spectrographic analysis (the electronic digital analysis of music he helped pioneer) of the piece he wrote “Celan Portrait I”.
